Write for Us: Share Your Travel Guest Post on my Blog

Greetings, fellow wanderers and storytellers! I’m Carlotta, the passionate female traveller and storyteller behind Nomad’s Wind. My corner of the internet is dedicated to uncovering the world’s magic, one destination and experience at a time, often through the lens of solo female exploration and the joyful (sometimes chaotic!) adventures of family travel.

This is a heartfelt invitation to write for us. I am actively seeking vibrant, insightful, and inspiring travel content from voices across the globe. Whether you’re a seasoned nomad, a family seeking unforgettable moments, or a traveller with a unique perspective to share, I want to hear from you. Our “write for us” initiative is more than just guest posting; it’s about building a community of travellers who inspire each other to explore deeper, travel smarter, and embrace the transformative power of journeys, big and small.

While I enthusiastically welcome diverse travel narratives from all corners of the world and all types of travellers, I hold a special affinity for content that resonates with female travellers and families. Sharing the realities, tips, triumphs, and challenges faced by women exploring solo, with partners, or with friends, as well as the unique joys and logistics of travelling with children of all ages, is incredibly valuable to our readership. I believe in amplifying these voices and providing practical, relatable insights.

Crucially, our platform is a family-friendly space. I absolutely do not accept content related to casinos, gambling, betting, loans, adult content, or any other themes unsuitable for children or that promote harmful activities. Our commitment is to provide safe, inspiring, and enriching travel content for all ages.

Why Contribute to Nomad’s Wind?

Before diving into the specifics of what I seek, let’s explore the compelling benefits of sharing your travel expertise with our audience:

  1. Amplify Your Voice & Reach: Tap into our established and engaged readership of travel enthusiasts, particularly those interested in female perspectives and family adventures. Gain exposure for your own blog, social media channels, or writing portfolio.

  2. Build Credibility & Authority: Being published on a respected travel blog enhances your profile as a knowledgeable traveller and writer within the niche. It’s a significant step in building topical authority.

  3. Join a Supportive Community: Become part of a network of passionate travellers and writers. I value collaboration and mutual support within the travel blogging sphere.

  4. Share Your Passion & Inspire Others: There’s immense satisfaction in knowing your experiences and advice could spark someone else’s dream trip, solve a travel dilemma, or encourage them to explore somewhere new. Your story matters.

  5. Refine Your Craft: The process of pitching, writing, and editing for publication is invaluable for honing your travel writing skills and understanding audience engagement.

What I’m Looking For: The Heart of Our “Write For Us” Initiative

Our core mission is to publish exceptional, original, and deeply engaging travel content. I crave stories that transport the reader, offer practical value, and reflect genuine experiences. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the content I actively seek:

  1. Destination Guides & Deep Dives:

    • Beyond the Brochure: Go deeper than top 10 lists. Share unique angles on well-known places (e.g., “Hidden Gems of Rome: A Local’s Perspective for Families,” “Paris Through the Eyes of a Solo Female Artist”). What makes a place truly special?

    • Under-the-Radar Gems: Introduce our readers to lesser-known towns, regions, or countries. Why should they visit? What’s the authentic experience like?

    • Thematic Guides: Focus on specific interests within a destination (e.g., “The Ultimate Foodie Guide to Penang,” “Hiking Adventures in the Scottish Highlands for All Levels,” “Cultural Immersion: A Week in Kyoto’s Traditional Neighbourhoods”).

    • Practical Focus: Include essential, up-to-date information: getting there, getting around, recommended areas to stay (mentioning budget/mid-range/luxury options if possible), must-see sights, hidden spots, eating recommendations (especially family-friendly or solo-friendly cafes/restaurants), estimated costs, safety tips, and local customs. Accuracy is paramount.

  2. Personal Travel Narratives & Stories:

    • Meaningful Experiences: Share transformative moments, challenges overcome, profound cultural interactions, or humorous mishaps that taught you something valuable. What did this journey mean to you?

    • Solo Female Travel Insights: Stories focusing specifically on the solo female experience – empowerment, safety strategies, meeting people, self-discovery, unique challenges, and triumphs. This is a key area of interest for our “write for us” submissions.

    • Family Travel Adventures: Honest accounts of travelling with babies, toddlers, teenagers, or multi-generational groups. Share the logistics, the magic moments, the inevitable chaos, budget tips for families, kid-friendly activities, accommodation reviews, and how travel strengthens family bonds. Family-focused content is highly encouraged.

    • Overcoming Travel Hurdles: How did you navigate a significant challenge (lost luggage, illness, missed connection, cultural misunderstanding)? What lessons were learned? Focus on resilience and solutions.

  3. Practical Travel Tips & How-To Guides:

    • Niche Expertise: Packing light for specific climates or trip types (e.g., “Minimalist Packing for a 3-Month Southeast Asia Backpacking Trip,” “The Ultimate Carry-On Packing List for a European City Break with Kids”), budgeting strategies, mastering specific transport systems, learning basic phrases, responsible photography.

    • Travel Hacking (Ethical & Practical): Earning/redeeming points, finding flight deals, choosing travel insurance, navigating visas – share actionable, well-researched advice.

    • Solo Travel Skills: Safety apps, meeting people safely, building confidence, choosing solo-friendly tours/accommodation. Highly relevant to our audience.

    • Family Travel Logistics: Flying with infants/children, road trip sanity savers, managing different ages and interests, keeping kids entertained en route, finding suitable accommodation, dealing with jet lag. Core to our preferred content.

    • Sustainable & Responsible Travel: Practical ways travellers can minimise their environmental impact, support local communities, respect cultures, and engage in ethical tourism practices. How can we travel better?

  4. Cultural Immersion & Local Experiences:

    • Living Like a Local: Stories about homestays, volunteering, learning a craft, participating in festivals, or spending extended time in one place.

    • Food Adventures: Beyond restaurant reviews – cooking classes, market explorations, street food guides, understanding culinary traditions. (Always consider dietary restrictions accessibility).

    • Off-the-Beaten-Path Encounters: Meaningful interactions with locals that provided unique insights into the culture.

  5. Adventure & Activity Focus:

    • Accessible Adventures: Hiking, kayaking, cycling, wildlife safaris, snorkelling, skiing – detailed guides to specific trails, routes, or experiences suitable for various skill levels. Emphasise safety and preparation.

    • Wellness & Retreats: Experiences focused on yoga, meditation, spa cultures, or simply finding tranquillity while travelling.

Content Preferences: Emphasising Female & Family Perspectives

As mentioned, while I welcome high-quality travel content on virtually any destination or theme (globally focused!), our editorial heart beats strongest for:

  • Solo Female Travel: Your unique experiences, safety tips, empowerment stories, destination reviews specifically highlighting the solo female experience, packing tips, mindset advice. I want to inspire and inform women travelling independently.

  • Family Travel Adventures: From city breaks with toddlers to gap years with teens, multi-generational trips, budget family travel, educational travel, overcoming challenges on the road with kids, finding kid-friendly gems, managing routines, and capturing the joy (and reality!) of exploring the world as a family unit. Practicality, honesty, and inspiration are key.

Absolutely Unacceptable Content: Our Non-Negotiables

To maintain our blog as a safe, positive, and family-friendly resource, I have strict boundaries. I do not accept and will not publish any content related to, promoting, or featuring:

  • Casinos, Gambling & Betting: No reviews of casinos, guides to gambling destinations, betting tips, or promotions of gambling-related services. This includes online platforms.

  • Loans, Finance & Get-Rich-Quick Schemes: No content promoting payday loans, travel loans, investment schemes, or any financial services unrelated to ethical travel budgeting or standard travel insurance. Avoid direct promotion of specific lenders or financial products.

  • Adult Content: Absolutely no sexually explicit material, content promoting adult entertainment venues or services, or anything of a prurient nature.

  • Harmful or Illegal Activities: Content promoting drug use, violence, discrimination (based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc.), or any illegal acts.

  • Plagiarism or Spun Content: All submissions must be 100% original, unpublished work. I use plagiarism detection tools rigorously.

  • Overly Negative or Inflammatory Content: While honest accounts of challenges are welcome, constant negativity, rants without constructive lessons, or content designed to provoke outrage isn’t a good fit. I aim for constructive, informative, and ultimately inspiring content.

  • Poorly Researched or Inaccurate Information: Factual errors, outdated prices, or incorrect logistical details damage credibility. Thorough research is essential.

Submission Guidelines: How to Craft Your Winning Pitch & Article

To ensure a smooth process and increase your chances of acceptance, please adhere meticulously to these guidelines:

  1. Originality is Paramount: Your submission must be completely unique, never published before (on your own blog, another blog, Medium, or anywhere else online), and written exclusively for Nomad’s Wind. I acquire full publishing rights upon acceptance.

  2. Word Count: Articles should be substantial and informative. I require a minimum of 1400 words, with many of our best-performing pieces ranging between 1800-2500 words. Depth and value are key. Brevity is not the goal here; comprehensive coverage is.

  3. Quality & Depth: Content must be well-researched, accurate, insightful, and engaging. Avoid superficial overviews. Dive deep into your topic, share personal anecdotes where relevant, provide actionable advice, and demonstrate genuine expertise or unique experience. Ask yourself: Does this provide real value beyond what a quick Google search offers?

  4. UK English: Please use UK English spelling and grammar conventions throughout (e.g., “travelling,” “favour,” “colour,” “organisation,” “centre”).

  5. Structure & Readability:

    • Compelling Headline: Craft a clear, intriguing, and keyword-rich headline that accurately reflects the content.

    • Introduction: Hook the reader immediately. State the purpose of the article and why it matters to them (solo traveller, family, adventure seeker, etc.).

    • Hierarchical Headings: Use clear, descriptive H2, H3, and H4 headings to break up the text and guide the reader logically through your narrative or guide. Headings should reflect semantic relationships within the content (e.g., H2: Planning Your Family Adventure in Portugal; H3: Finding the Perfect Family-Friendly Accommodation; H4: Self-Catering Apartments vs. Kid-Friendly Hotels).

    • Short Paragraphs & White Space: Enhance readability. Avoid dense blocks of text. Aim for 2-4 sentences per paragraph.

    • Bullet Points & Numbered Lists: Use these liberally for tips, packing lists, itinerary highlights, pros/cons – anything that benefits from easy scanning.

    • Strong Conclusion: Summarise key takeaways, offer final thoughts, or inspire the reader to take action (plan their trip, try the experience, etc.). Avoid abrupt endings.

  6. Visuals (Highly Encouraged): While not always mandatory for initial acceptance, high-quality, original photographs significantly enhance your post and are strongly preferred. They must be:

    • Your Own: Or you must have explicit, verifiable permission to use them.

    • High Resolution: Clear, well-composed, and visually appealing.

    • Relevant: Directly illustrate the content of your article.

    • Captioned: Briefly describe the image and location. Please indicate where images should be placed within the text. If submitting a pitch first, mention you have suitable images available.

  7. Author Bio: Include a brief, engaging author bio (approx. 50-80 words) with your submission. This should mention your travel focus (e.g., solo female traveller, family travel blogger, adventure seeker), your website/blog (one link permitted), and relevant social media handles (e.g., Instagram, Twitter/X). A small, clear headshot is appreciated.

  8. SEO Best Practices: While quality content reigns supreme, integrating SEO naturally is important:

    • Primary Keyword: Naturally include your main topic keyword (e.g., “family travel Japan,” “solo female Morocco,” “hiking Peru Inca Trail”) in the title, early in the introduction, and sprinkled naturally throughout the body and headings.

    • Internal Linking (Potential): If highly relevant, you can suggest potential links to existing content on [Your Blog Name] (e.g., “For more tips on packing light, see our guide [Link]”). However, do not create arbitrary links. Final linking decisions rest with the editor.

    • Meta Description (Optional but Helpful): You can suggest a concise, compelling meta description (approx. 155 characters) summarising the post’s value and including the primary keyword.

  9. Tone & Voice: Be authentic, informative, and engaging. I appreciate a conversational yet professional tone. Share your passion! While maintaining professionalism, let your personality shine through where appropriate. Avoid overly salesy or overly academic language.

  10. Global Perspective: I explicitly welcome content covering destinations all over the world. From well-trodden European cities to remote villages, bustling Asian metropolises to African safaris, South American adventures to Pacific island paradises – if it’s a travel experience, we’re interested. Highlight what makes your chosen destination unique on a global scale.
